Plugins

The panels, the copy engine, the viewer and the keyboard are the application. Connections, archives, viewers and tools are plugins — install the ones you need, and a feature you leave out is simply absent.

Installing

On the first run

The setup wizard lists every plugin. Switch on what you want — each one downloads with everything it needs.

Any time later

Settings → Plugins: install, switch on or off, delete, or update them all at once.

Updates

Installed plugins update themselves when Ice Commander checks for updates, and take effect after a restart.

Write your own

A plugin is one shared library that describes what it offers; the application draws it, on the desktop and in the browser alike. Start from the SDK's worked examples — every plugin below is open source too, so its repository is a working example as well.

Filesystems & connections

FTP

Linux · macOS · Windows

FTP servers in a panel: browse, copy both ways, create folders, rename and delete. Saved in the connection manager like every other connection.

Where plugins are going

0.8The plugins are being stabilised. The plugin interface may still change between releases — Ice Commander updates the plugins it installed along with itself.

0.9A stable plugin API, and with it an Android version of Ice Commander.

Every plugin is open source under MIT OR Apache-2.0, and so are the plugin API and the SDK for writing your own.
